Join us for an historic trek from Panhala to Pawankhind, Kolhapur and pay tribute to the great Maratha warrior Baji Prabhu Deshpande, who sacrificed his life for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on 13th July 1660.

🔺 History:
Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was under siege of Siddi Johar on Panhala fort from 2nd March 1660. The siege lasted long and all food stocks had finished and made things difficult for Shivaji Maharaj. It was impossible to defeat the 30000 soldiered troop of Siddi. Shivaji Maharaj with some 600 mavalas decided to escape to Vishalgad, 65 kms away. It was Ashadi Pournima, with heavy rains falling. Chatrapati Shivaji Raje informed Siddi that he would surrender hence Siddi troops were little careless.

Taking advantage Shivaji Maharaj escaped from Panhala. He wasn’t safe till he reached Vishalgad. Some how Siddi’s troops spotted Shivaji Raje’s escape, he immediately sent horsed troops behind him and they got hold of Shivaji, who was later brought to Siddi’s camp. But it was Raja Shivaji’s game plan; person whom they had caught was not Shivaji Raje, but Siva Kashid Nhavi who was immediately killed. Siddi somehow came to know that Shivaji Maharaj was on his way to Vishalgad, and so sent troops behind him. Shivaji Raje knew that Siddi’s troops were following him. Baji Prabhu, Chatrapati Shivaji’s loyal sardar decided to stay in Ghod Khind with 300 mavalas, a col were mountain ridges near Vishalgad unite and was the only way to Vishalgad then. Baji Prabhu with his 300 mavalas had guerilla warfare at Ghodkhind and held the Siddis troops there. They fought bravely till their death. It was only after Baji heard the canon fire indicating safe reach of Shivaji Maharaj at Vishalgad, he gave his life. It was 21 hour continuous journey from Panhala to Vishalgad. Story didn’t end here; Chatrapati Shivaji Raje had to fight his way to Vishalgad.

Vishalgad is a fort difficult to conquer, difficult to lay siege. Also even if siege was laid, one would have enough time to escape to Konkan. Siddi was building siege on Vishalgad, but Shivaji Raje with his diplomatic trick made Adil Shah bring back Siddi Johar.

09:30 hrs: Descend form Pusati Buruj

10:30 Hrs: At Turukwadi —~2.5 km Complete

11:00 Hrs: At Mhalunge Village — ~5 km Complete

12:00 Hrs: At Mhasai Pathar-Mhasai Temple — ~11 km Complete

13:15 Hrs: At Kumbharwadi — ~14 km Complete

14:30 Hrs: At Chapewadi — ~18 km Complete

Lunch break

15:15 Hrs: Start trek

16:30 Hrs: At Mandlaiwadi — ~23 km Complete

17:30 Hrs: At Karapewadi — ~28 km Complete

Dinner & Overnight stay At Karpewadi … village house

Day 02: Sunday
Breakfast – Tea

07:30 Hrs: Start trek

10:00 Hrs: At Patewadi — ~34 km Complete

13:00 Hrs: At Pandherpani — ~44 km Complete

Lunch Break

15:00 Hrs: At Pavankhind — ~51 km Complete

17:00 Hrs: Move to Mumbai by Bus

Dinner at hotel on highway (to be borne by participants )

Day 03: Monday

05:00 Hrs: At Mumbai (Dats’ subjective)

Note:- 1) For Pune Participants, separate vehicle can be arranged if minimum 7 participants confirm their presence.

🔺 Things to carry:
• ID proof
• Face Mask (must)
• Hand Sanitizer (must)
• Min. 3 liters water (must)
• Sleeping mat / bag, bedding (must)
• Torch with spare set of Battery (must)
• Good trekking shoes preferably Action, carry extra pair (a must)
• Extra 2 pair of clothes (Compulsory)
• 100 ml coconut oil (for Shoe bite), Salt, Turmeric powder (for Leeches)
• Ready to eat food / snacks (biscuits, plum cake, chips etc.)
• Rainywear (optional)
• Energy drink (ex. Glucon D)
• A haversack to put in all the things to be carried. (Please do not bring suitcases or sling bags/ jholas)
• Personal basic medical kit (Containing an antiseptic, few bandages, personal medications if any, Antibiotics for stomach infection)
• Camera (optional)
• Please wear loose track pants and a full sleeve t-shirt
• Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments

• Wear full sleeves, full tracksuit to avoid mosquito bite or leeches
• Proper footwear/ shoes are essential for trekking
• Conserve and preserve our heritage
• Photographs taken during the activity which can be used for publicity purposes
• Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety, Jewellery, Cash and baggage

• We reserves all right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without any prior notice
• No Extra adventure/out of itinerary behavior during trek
• Trek leader’s decision will be final and binding
• TraWell Amigos will not be responsible for injury / accident / death of the participants
• Any damage to the property will be chargeable
• 50% refund in case if you cancel the plan and inform us 7 days before the event day
• No refund if the cancellation request is less than 4 days
• No Show No Refund
• Bookings cannot be transferred to another date nor it will be transferred to another person against cancellation
